‘Gloucestershire v. Sussex’ 1876. Early original double sided scorecard with complete printed scores for the match played at Clifton College, 24th- 26th August 1876. Gloucestershire (342 & 172/6) drew with Sussex (281). The Gloucestershire team featured the three Grace brothers and their cousin, W.R. Gilbert, W.G. Grace scoring 78 in the first innings, E.M. Grace with 63 in the second. Top scorers in the match were Sussex captain F.F.J. Greenfield (126) and C.R. Filgate (93) of Gloucestershire. The three Grace brothers shared all the wickets in Sussex’s only innings. Printed ‘By Authority’ on the ground. Local advertising to verso. 4.75”x7.25”. Formerly the property of James Phillips (Sussex 1871-1886) who also played in the match. Horizontal fold, some age toning and soiling, otherwise in good condition.
