Sussex v Hampshire 1897. Early original double sided scorecard for the match played at Hove 22nd- 24th July 1897 with complete printed and (mainly) handwritten scores in pencil. Sussex (438, Ranjitsinhji 149, Brann 77, Newham 61) beat Hampshire (134 & 128) by an innings and 176 runs. Hampshire’s Ledger Hill was their top scorer with 64no their first innings, with Maurice Tate taking 5/21 off 21 overs. Printed by Crowhurst of Brighton. Local advertising to verso. 5”x7.25”. Horizontal fold, some soiling. Adhesive marks and old tape repair to verso, otherwise in good condition.
