Arthur Brian Sellers. Yorkshire 1932-1948. Original mono photograph of Sellers standing full length wearing cricket attire and Yorkshire blazer with his fiancé, Miss Bessie Walker, seated beside. The couple are situated in front of the President’s tent at the Scarborough Festival. Very nicely signed in ink to the photograph by Sellers and Miss Walker, and dated 3rd September 1932. 6.25”x8.25”. Assumed to be by Walkers’ Studio, Scarborough, the photograph is laid down to grey album page with handwritten caption below. Sold with ‘Yorkshire XI versus M.C.C. Scarborough 1927’, two original mono photographs depicting each of the two teams lined up in front of the pavilion at Scarborough with crowds in the background for the match played 31st August- 2nd September 1927. The M.C.C. team photograph signed in black ink by ten of the players. Signatures are Enthoven, Clay, Haig, Kennedy, Leveson-Gower, Crutchley, Douglas, A.E.R. Gilligan, F.W. Gilligan and Crawley. The Yorkshire team photograph with title and players’ names annotated in black ink to the lower portion of the image. Players are Kilner, Mitchell, Jacques, Dolphin, Sutcliffe, Holmes, Robinson, Rhodes, Lupton, Macaulay and Leyland. Both photographs by H. Walker of Scarborough, each 10.25”x5.25”. Adhesive/ tape marks to verso where previously laid down. Small tear to the M.C.C. photograph, some wear to the signatures, otherwise in very good condition. All ex J.W. Goldman collection. Qty 3.
Yorkshire beat M.C.C. by eight wickets, J.W.H.T. Douglas scoring 101 for M.C.C. in their first innings.
