Australia v West Indies ‘Tied Test’ 1960/61. Four original mono press photographs depicting action from the 1st Test at Brisbane, 9th- 14th December 1960. Images show West Indies celebrating the dramatic fall of the last wicket when Australia’s Ian Meckiff, was run out with the scores tied. A ‘wire’ photograph showing Australia’s last man, Lindsay Kline, at the crease, surrounded by ten West Indies close fielders. Surface wear and creasing to the image). One further photograph of action from the Brisbane Test, and another of Lance Gibbs signing autographs after completing the hat-trick in Australia’s first innings of the 4th Test at Adelaide. Photo agencies are Courier Mail (Brisbane), Herald-Sun, Planet News, Daily Sun. Various sizes, approx. 10”x8”. Faults to one as described, otherwise in good/ very good condition.
The 1960/61 tour was notable for the celebrated tied Test at Brisbane, the first of only two such results in over 2000 Test matches played to date, the second occurring in 1986. The five match series came down to the deciding fifth Test, which Australia won by two wickets to take the closely fought series 2-1.
