Grange C.C.C (Edinburgh) v Oxford University Authentics 1906-7 & 1907. Two original mono photographs, one of the combined teams, dated ‘1906-7’, the other of the Grange team, dated ‘July 12th and 13th 1907’, the players seated and standing in rows wearing cricket attire and blazers. The teams feature a number who played first-class cricket including two professionals who played for Grange, John White, Nottinghamshire 4 matches and John Keene, Surrey & Worcestershire 27 matches, also some who played first-class cricket for Scotland, M.R. Dickson (13 matches), D. Chapel (4), L.M. Balfour-Melville (2), R.H. Johnston (1), R.B. Watson (1) etc. Also for the Authentics, G.N. Foster, brother of ‘Tip’ Foster, Worcestershire 1903-1914, G.H. Simpson-Hayward, Worcestershire 1899-1914, England 5 Tests, G.T. Branston, Nottinghamshire 1903-1913, C.H.M. Ebden, Sussex & Middlesex 1902-1909, C.S. Hurst, Kent 1906-1927 etc. No record of either match can be found. The 1907 photograph by J. Moffat of Edinburgh, the other unknown. Both laid to official photographer’s mounts with printed titles and players’ names to mount borders. The larger 1906-07 photograph measures approx. 13”x9”, the 1907 9.75”x7.5”, each laid to mount overall 14.75”x11.5”. The mounts have been disbound from an album. Very good condition.
